The game, held at Value City Arena in Columbus, Ohio, saw the home team take control from the outset. The Buckeyes led by five points after the first half and expanded their lead significantly in the second half. Their offensive execution was near flawless; they shot an impressive 56 percent from the field and an outstanding 81 percent from the free-throw line.

Ohio State's defense was equally formidable, forcing a total of 18 turnovers from Michigan and converting these opportunities into 27 points. The Buckeyes' aggressive play resulted in them stealing the ball 14 times throughout the contest. This defensive pressure stifled Michigan's offense which managed to shoot only 36 percent overall.

The home team also dominated inside with a remarkable performance that yielded them 40 points in paint compared to Michigan's 20. Ohio State's two-point shooting was particularly effective as they made over half of their attempts (61 percent). They were also successful beyond the arc hitting five out of twelve three-point attempts for a solid three-point percentage of about 42.

Rebounding played a crucial role as well; Ohio State edged out Michigan with a total rebound count of 31 against their opponent’s tally of just under thirty rebounds. Notably, four rebounds came on offense which helped limit second-chance opportunities for Michigan who managed eleven second-chance points.
