Sooners Set to Storm into Cyclones' Territory at Hilton Coliseum

As the Oklahoma Sooners prepare to face off against the Iowa State Cyclones at James H. Hilton Coliseum, fans are cautiously optimistic despite recent performances that have left much to be desired. The Sooners, who have shown a mix of resilience and vulnerability, will need to tap into their deepest reserves of grit and skill come February 28.

Looking back at the game on February 17 against the Kansas Jayhawks, OKLA's shortcomings were evident in their 57-67 loss. Their field goal percentage was a paltry 32 percent compared to KU's more efficient 44 percent. Even more concerning was OKLA's two-point attempt success rate which stood at just 30 percent – a stark contrast to their opponents' 50 percent. This lackluster shooting performance was compounded by an assist-to-turnover ratio of only 0.91, signaling issues in ball handling and offensive execution.

However, it wasn't all doom and gloom for OKLA; they did manage a respectable free throw percentage of 74 percent against KU – an area where consistency could prove vital against ISU.

In another recent outing on February 14 versus Baylor Bears, OKLA fell short with a scoreline of 62-79. Despite improving their field goal percentage slightly to 47 percent and posting a better assist-to-turnover ratio than in the previous game (1:1), they were still outmatched by BAY's impressive shooting accuracy – particularly from beyond the arc where BAY hit an astounding 52 percent of attempts.

The glimmer of hope for OKLA fans lies in their performance on February 11 when they secured a win over Oklahoma State Cowboys with a scoreline of 66-62. Their defensive prowess shone through with nine blocks and an improved three-point shooting percentage standing at nearly double that against BAY (39 percent). This victory showcased what the Sooners are capable of when firing on all cylinders – aggressive defense combined with efficient scoring from distance.

As they gear up for ISU, it is this version of the Sooners that must show up if they wish to emerge victorious from Ames' challenging atmosphere. The Cyclones will not make it easy; as hosts known for strong home-court advantage, ISU will look to capitalize on any sign of weakness displayed by OKLA.

For Sooner fans hoping for success away from home soil, attention must turn towards sharpening offensive strategies while maintaining defensive intensity demonstrated in past victories. It is essential that players like those who stepped up against OSU bring their A-game once again – hitting crucial shots while stifling ISU’s offensive efforts.

The scheduled date is fast approaching as these two teams clash on February 28th at James H. Hilton Coliseum starting at precisely seven o'clock PM Central Time (-06:00). Fans unable or unwilling to brave enemy territory can catch live action via ESPN+ online broadcast network - ensuring not one moment is missed during this pivotal conference showdown.
