Oklahoma Clutches Victory in Overtime at Gallagher-Iba Arena

The Oklahoma Sooners edged out a nail-biting victory against the Oklahoma State Cowboys with an 84-82 scoreline. The Sooners now stand with an improved record, while the Cowboys face a setback. The game, which extended into overtime, showcased the tenacity of both teams as they battled for supremacy.

The Sooners started off trailing in the first half with 30 points to the Cowboys' 38 but managed to turn things around in the second half by adding 42 points to their tally. The match was pushed into overtime where the Sooners secured an additional 12 points against the Cowboys' 10, ultimately clinching their win.


The offensive efforts of Oklahoma were led by their impressive two-point shooting accuracy, hitting a remarkable 62 percent from inside the arc. They dominated points in paint with a total of 54, matching that of their opponents. Their overall field goal percentage stood at a solid 51 percent and they made seven out of twenty-four three-point attempts.

Defensively, both teams were evenly matched with two blocks each; however, Oklahoma managed to grab more rebounds with a total count of 34 compared to Oklahoma State's 32. This included grabbing crucial offensive rebounds which amounted to sixteen for Oklahoma and nine for their counterparts.


Oklahoma's performance was not just about scoring but also about ball movement and defense; they tallied nine assists and four steals over the course of play while committing fewer turnovers than Oklahoma State (eight versus nine). Despite being slightly less efficient from free throw line at only fifty-eight percent compared to sixty-four percent by Cowboys', it did not deter them from securing victory.
