Cowboys Narrowly Outscored by Horned Frogs in a Close Encounter at Gallagher-Iba Arena

The Oklahoma State Cowboys faced off against the Horned Frogs in a tightly contested game that ended with the visitors edging out the home team 74-69. The Cowboys now stand with an overall record of 0-1, while the Horned Frogs have started their season with a record of 1-0.

TCU Horned Frogs VS Oklahoma State Cowgirls

In front of a crowd of 6017 fans at Gallagher-Iba Arena, the Cowboys put up a valiant effort but fell short by five points. The first half saw them leading with 37 points against the Horned Frogs' 33, but they couldn't maintain their momentum, adding only 32 points in the second half to TCU's stronger finish of 41 points.

The Oklahoma State team showcased resilience throughout the match. They were particularly effective from beyond the arc, converting ten three-pointers at an impressive rate of 37 percent compared to TCU's mere three at just 20 percent accuracy. However, despite this advantage from distance and making more free throws (17) than TCU (11), it was not enough to secure victory.

The Cowboys also demonstrated better ball control with fewer turnovers (5) than their opponents (9), which allowed them to score more points off turnovers (13). Their assist-to-turnover ratio stood strong at an even two, reflecting efficient playmaking and careful possession handling.

On defense though, Oklahoma State struggled against TCU's offense inside; they allowed a significant number of points in paint (46) and had less success blocking shots with only one block recorded for the game. Additionally, they were outrebounded by TCU who grabbed a total of thirty-eight rebounds over Oklahoma State's twenty-eight.

Despite these challenges on defense and rebounding fronts, individual performances shone through for Oklahoma State. Their players fought hard on both ends of court contributing evenly spread assists (10) and matching up on steals (3).

Looking ahead after this tough loss, fans can catch their next chance to support their team when Oklahoma State hosts West Virginia Mountaineers at Gallagher-Iba Arena on January 27th at noon local time. The game will be available for viewing on ESPN+ as part of internet broadcast networks coverage.
