Cowboys Aim to Corral Sooners in Gallagher-Iba Showdown

As the Oklahoma State Cowboys prepare to host their rivals, the Oklahoma Sooners, at Gallagher-Iba Arena, fans are bracing for an intense matchup. The Cowboys' recent performances have been a mixed bag of grit and grind, but they've shown flashes of brilliance that could be pivotal in their upcoming game.

Oklahoma Sooners VS Oklahoma State Cowboys

In their last encounter with the Sooners on February 11th, OKST fell just short with a final score of 62-66. Despite this loss, there were positive takeaways. The Cowboys demonstrated tenacity on defense with seven steals and two blocks. However, shooting was a concern as they only hit 31 percent from the field and a paltry 17 percent from beyond the arc.

The rebounding effort was strong for OKST against OKLA; pulling down 39 boards is no small feat. This included ten offensive rebounds which provided additional scoring opportunities despite only converting them into six second-chance points.

Contrastingly, when facing off against Houston Cougars on February 7th, turnovers proved costly for OKST – giving up possession 17 times is something that cannot be repeated if they hope to best the Sooners. On a brighter note though, free throw accuracy was decent at 65 percent which could be crucial in close game situations.

A glimmer of hope shines through from their victory over Kansas State Wildcats on February 3rd where OKST edged out with a score of 75-72. Their field goal percentage improved to a more respectable rate of around 44 percent and free throws were sunk at an impressive rate of nearly four out of five attempts taken.

Looking ahead to this clash between state rivals, it's clear that Oklahoma State must capitalize on its defensive prowess while addressing shooting inconsistencies if they want to emerge victorious. The team's ability to limit turnovers will also play an essential role in maintaining control over the game's tempo and ultimately securing those all-important points.

The scheduled date for this highly anticipated contest is February 24th at Gallagher-Iba Arena in Stillwater; tip-off is set for sharp at three o'clock PM Central Time (-06:00). Fans won't want to miss what promises to be an electrifying atmosphere as these two teams battle it out once again – catch all the action live on ESPN2 channel number two hundred nine.
