Beavers Outpaced by Buffaloes at CU Events Center Showdown
The Oregon State Beavers faced a challenging contest against the Colorado Buffaloes, culminating in a 57-90 defeat. The Beavers now stand with an unenviable record, while the Buffaloes have bolstered their standing with this victory. The game unfolded at the CU Events Center in Boulder, where 7,944 spectators witnessed a dominant performance from the home team.
From tip-off, it was clear that Oregon State had to contend with an aggressive Colorado offense. The Beavers managed to put up 23 points in the first half but found themselves trailing as the Buffaloes racked up 45 points. Despite a more productive second half where they scored 34 points, it wasn't enough to close the gap or quell Colorado's momentum which mirrored their first-half performance.
The statistics painted a stark picture of Oregon State's struggles throughout the game. They shot at just 33 percent from field goals and an underwhelming 18 percent from beyond the arc on their three-point attempts. However, they fared better at free throws with a commendable completion rate of approximately 78 percent.
Oregon State's efforts inside were notable; they amassed an impressive total of 32 points in paint and grabbed six offensive rebounds contributing to five second-chance points. Defensively though, they gathered only eighteen rebounds compared to Colorado's twenty-nine defensive boards.
Playmaking was another area where Oregon State lagged behind; they recorded ten assists against nineteen by Colorado and turned over possession ten times during play. Their assist-to-turnover ratio stood at around 1:1 compared to Colorado’s superior ratio of nearly three assists for every turnover.
Despite these challenges, there were individual moments of resilience for Oregon State – two blocks and five steals showed flashes of defensive capability but ultimately did not translate into control over the game flow or scoreboard impact.
Looking ahead for Oregon State Beavers fans is another opportunity for redemption as their team hosts Arizona Wildcats at Gill Coliseum in Corvallis on January 25th at around nine o'clock PM local time (Pac-12 Network). This upcoming conference game will be another chance for Beaver faithfuls to rally behind their team as they seek to improve upon recent performances.
