First Half

The first half saw the Nittany Lions struggling to find their rhythm, scoring only 20 points compared to Rutgers' 39. Despite an impressive field goal percentage of 55 percent overall, PSU's three-point shooting lagged at just 18 percent. Reggie Grodin and Freddie Dilione V were instrumental in keeping PSU competitive, but turnovers plagued their efforts as they committed a total of 15 throughout the game.

Second Half

In the second half, Penn State ramped up its offensive efforts by scoring an additional 52 points. Josh Reed emerged as a key player for PSU with his efficient shooting and contribution of rebounds. The team's ability to score in the paint was evident as they achieved an impressive two-point shooting percentage of 77 percent. However, despite these improvements and outscoring Rutgers in this period, it wasn't enough to close the gap created earlier.

Rutgers Performance

On the other side of the court, Rutgers maintained consistent pressure throughout both halves. Their defensive prowess resulted in ten steals and limited PSU's opportunities effectively. The Scarlet Knights capitalized on fast breaks and turnovers from Penn State to secure crucial points off transitions.
