First Half

In the opening half, both teams displayed competitive energy. The Panthers managed to secure an early lead by as much as 9 points, thanks in part to their aggressive rebounding efforts. Roman Siulepa was instrumental during this period, contributing significantly with his scoring and defensive presence. However, despite these efforts, Pitt ended the half trailing by one point at 34-33.

Second Half

The second half saw a shift in momentum as NC State's offense began to click. The Pack capitalized on turnovers and fast-break opportunities to extend their lead. Nojus Indrusaitis tried to keep Pitt within striking distance with his playmaking abilities but struggled against NC State's tight defense. The Wolfpack's ability to convert free throws at an impressive rate of 82 percent further widened the gap.

Key Performances

For Pitt, Roman Siulepa stood out with his double-double performance of 15 points and 13 rebounds. Barry Dunning Jr.'s contribution from beyond the arc also provided some offensive spark for Pitt but wasn't enough to overcome NC State's balanced attack led by efficient shooting and solid defense.

Despite dominating on rebounds with a total of 52 compared to NC State’s 31, what went wrong for Pittsburgh Panthers was their inability to capitalize on these extra possessions due largely in part due poor shooting percentages from both field goals (37 percent) and free throws (44 percent).

Post-game Reaction

In post-game report Pittsburgh Panthers coach expressed disappointment over missed opportunities but praised his team's effort on rebounding battles which kept them competitive throughout most parts of game despite eventual loss.
