Boilermakers Outscored by Cornhuskers in High-Octane Showdown at Pinnacle Bank Arena

In a fiercely contested matchup, the Purdue Boilermakers, ranked number 1 with a record of 72-88, faced off against the unranked Nebraska Cornhuskers. Despite a valiant effort, the Boilermakers fell short as the final score read 72-88 in favor of the home team.

The game unfolded at Pinnacle Bank Arena where 14,106 spectators witnessed an intense battle that saw three times tied and two lead changes. The Purdue Boilermakers started strong with an initial half score of 30 points but were outpaced by the Cornhuskers who put up 41 points. In the second half, despite adding another 42 points to their tally, it was not enough to overcome Nebraska's additional surge of 47 points.


The Boilermakers showcased their skills with a total of seventeen assists and managed to secure thirty-four rebounds throughout the game. Their defensive efforts resulted in two blocks and one steal. Offensively, they attempted fifty-seven field goals making twenty-four at a rate of forty-two percent and were successful from beyond the arc thirteen times out of thirty-three attempts for a three-point percentage of thirty-nine percent. From the free-throw line, they achieved seventy-three percent accuracy making eleven out of fifteen shots.


Despite these efforts, it was not enough to counteract Nebraska's performance which included nine steals contributing to eighteen points off turnovers compared to seven by Purdue. The Cornhuskers also capitalized on fast break opportunities scoring thirteen fast break points while Purdue managed just one.


Nebraska demonstrated superior shooting efficiency with fifty-one percent field goal accuracy (twenty-nine made out of fifty-seven) and an impressive sixty-one percent from three-point range (fourteen made out of twenty-three). They also excelled at free throws hitting eighty-four percent (sixteen made out nineteen).
