The Purdue Boilermakers demonstrated remarkable offensive efficiency at Mackey Arena, shooting 58 percent from the field and converting 64 percent of their two-point attempts. Their prowess inside was evident as they racked up 46 points in the paint. Beyond the arc, they maintained a solid shooting performance with a 48 percent success rate. At the charity stripe, Purdue capitalized on their opportunities by making 29 out of 46 free throws.

Defensively, both teams were evenly matched with each recording six steals and two blocks. However, it was on the boards where Purdue established dominance by outrebounding Northwestern with a total of 36 rebounds to their opponent's 22. This advantage was crucial as it led to more second-chance points for Purdue who scored 14 compared to Northwestern's five.

Purdue's ball distribution mirrored that of their opponents', each tallying an identical number of assists at twenty-three; however, turnovers told another story as Purdue had ten against Northwestern’s eight. Despite this slight disadvantage in ball control for Purdue, they managed better efficiency overall.

The game was fiercely competitive with fourteen lead changes and eleven instances where the score was tied; this back-and-forth affair kept fans on edge until overtime provided separation for Purdue who outscored Northwestern by nine points in extra time.

Looking ahead for fans of the Boilermakers: The team is set to face off against Wisconsin Badgers at Kohl Center located in Madison on February fourth at noon Eastern Time zone (11 AM Central). This upcoming matchup will be broadcast nationally on CBS ensuring that supporters can follow all action live from wherever they are.
