In what was a nail-biting encounter at the Xfinity Center, the Rutgers Scarlet Knights showcased their defensive tenacity against the Maryland Terrapins. The game was characterized by multiple lead changes and both teams found themselves tied on ten occasions, underscoring the competitive nature of this conference game.

The Scarlet Knights were particularly effective in blocking shots, registering six blocks compared to just two from their opponents. This defensive prowess extended to steals as well, with eight successful attempts that disrupted the Terrapins' offensive flow. On offense, Rutgers managed to convert 44 percent of their two-point attempts and were notably efficient from the free-throw line with an 82 percent success rate.

Rutgers also demonstrated strong rebounding skills throughout the game. They out-rebounded Maryland by one rebound with a total of 37 rebounds; however, it was their defensive rebounding that stood out as they collected 24 compared to Maryland's 23. Offensively, points in paint were crucial for Rutgers as they scored 32 points from close range.

Despite committing more personal fouls than Maryland (19 versus 14), Rutgers maintained composure and capitalized on turnovers by scoring 13 points off them. Their assist-to-turnover ratio stood at a modest 0.54 but did not hinder them from securing victory.

On Maryland's side, despite shooting only at a rate of 32 percent for field goals and an even lower three-point percentage of just around eleven percent, they kept pace through sheer determination and free throw accuracy (74 percent). Their second-chance points totaled thirteen thanks to twelve offensive rebounds which kept them within striking distance until the final buzzer sounded.

As fans look forward to future matchups after this intense battle on court witnessed by nearly thirteen thousand attendees at Xfinity Center in College Park; attention now turns back home for Rutgers fans where anticipation builds for what promises to be another exciting contest.
