At the Bernard Johnson Coliseum, the home crowd witnessed an intense matchup where both teams fought hard to establish dominance. The Bearkats started strong with 33 points in the first half but were outscored by the Bobcats who put up 23 points. However, it was during the second half that Texas State turned up their performance significantly scoring an additional 50 points while Sam Houston could only manage to add another 27 points to their tally.

The Bearkats showcased resilience on their home court with a total rebound count of 32 and converting four out of nineteen three-point attempts which accounted for a three-point percentage of roughly twenty-one percent. They were particularly effective from the free-throw line with an eighty percent success rate but struggled from field goals making only thirty-eight percent.

Despite not registering any blocks and accumulating sixteen turnovers equal to that of their opponents, Sam Houston managed to score thirty-four points inside the paint and added eleven more through assists. Their fast break efforts yielded four points while they capitalized on turnovers for sixteen points.

On defense, they grabbed sixteen defensive rebounds and ten offensive ones which contributed to eleven second-chance points. However, this effort was slightly overshadowed by Texas State's ability to convert twenty-two points off turnovers and dominate inside with thirty-six paint points.

The Bobcats' performance was marked by higher shooting accuracy across all fronts: fifty-three percent field goal shooting including fifty-seven percent two-pointers and approximately forty-three percent from beyond the arc. They also had a significant presence under both baskets pulling down thirty-three rebounds including seven offensive boards leading to six second-chance points.

Looking ahead for Sam Houston fans, their next game will be against Grand Canyon Antelopes at Grand Canyon University Arena located in Phoenix on December 21st at 7:00 PM Central Time.
