The Sam Houston State Bearkats faced a challenging contest against the Texas Tech Red Raiders, concluding with a 60-96 outcome. The Bearkats now stand with an additional loss to their record, while the Red Raiders secured another win. The game unfolded at the United Supermarkets Arena in Lubbock, where the home team took full advantage of their court.

Texas Tech Red Raiders VS Sam Houston State Bearkats

The Bearkats started off determined, putting up 29 points in the first half but were overshadowed by the Red Raiders' impressive 48 points. As play resumed, Sam Houston aimed to close the gap but only managed to add 31 more points to their tally. In contrast, Texas Tech maintained consistent pressure and matched their first-half performance with another 48 points in the second half.

Sam Houston's efforts were led by their shooting from beyond the arc where they made six out of seventeen attempts, translating into a three-point shooting percentage of thirty-five percent. Inside the paint was less fruitful for them as they scored eighteen points compared to Texas Tech's twenty-six. From two-point range, they attempted forty shots and succeeded on sixteen occasions which resulted in a forty percent conversion rate.

On defense, Sam Houston managed one block and two steals throughout the game but struggled to contain Texas Tech's offense which boasted a fifty-three percent field goal percentage overall. The Bearkats collected thirty-six rebounds during play; twenty-two defensively and eleven offensively contributing slightly less than their opponents who had thirty-seven rebounds.

Despite these efforts from Sam Houston State players on both ends of the court, turnovers proved costly as fifteen player turnovers led to fifteen points for Texas Tech off those errors. Additionally, free throw opportunities were not fully capitalized on by Sam Houston as they made ten out of nineteen free throws – achieving only fifty-three percent from the line.

The Red Raiders displayed strong teamwork with twenty-one assists leading to many scoring opportunities and an assist-to-turnover ratio of three – significantly higher than that of Sam Houston’s zero point forty-seven ratio. Their defensive prowess was evident too; four blocks and five steals helped them control much of game flow.

This upcoming match will be available for viewing via ESPN+ internet broadcast network allowing fans not just locally but globally tune into see if Bearkats can bounce back after this defeat.
