As the San Diego State Aztecs prepare to face off against the San Jose State Spartans at the Provident Credit Union Event Center, fans are buzzing with anticipation for what promises to be a thrilling encounter. San Diego State's recent performance has been nothing short of spectacular. On January 6th, they dispatched the Runnin' Rebels with a convincing 72-61 victory. Their offense was firing on all cylinders, shooting an impressive 46 percent from the field and an even more remarkable 77 percent from the free-throw line. The team's defensive prowess was equally notable; they amassed nine steals and three blocks while holding their opponents to just 40 percent shooting.

Just two days prior, on January 4th, SDSU showcased their offensive might by putting up a staggering 74 points against Fresno State Bulldogs while maintaining defensive solidity that limited their opponents to only 47 points. Their field goal percentage stood at an efficient 53 percent and they excelled in converting second-chance points.

The Aztecs' road game against Gonzaga Bulldogs on December 30th further solidified their status as formidable contenders this season. They emerged victorious with an impressive scoreline of 84-74 in a challenging environment against the then-ranked number thirteen team. This victory was underpinned by their robust inside game that accounted for a whopping 40 points in paint and a commendable assist-turnover ratio.

The upcoming clash with SJSU presents another opportunity for SDSU to assert its authority within conference play. The Spartans will have their work cut out for them as they attempt to contain San Diego State's multifaceted attack and break through its stingy defense.

While it would be unwise to underestimate any opponent—especially when playing at home—the Spartans will need more than just home-court advantage if they hope to upset SDSU’s rhythm which has been characterized by high-scoring offenses and lockdown defense.

Fans eagerly awaiting this matchup should mark their calendars for January 9th at precisely eight o'clock PM Pacific Time when these two teams take center stage in San Jose, California. For those unable to attend in person, CBS Sports Network will broadcast all the action live on channel number two hundred twenty-one – ensuring no one misses out on what is sure to be another exhilarating performance by the mighty Aztecs.
