Viejas Arena Showdown: San Diego State Aztecs vs Nevada Wolf Pack

As the San Diego State Aztecs prepare to host the Nevada Wolf Pack at Viejas Arena, fans are buzzing with anticipation for what promises to be a thrilling encounter. The Aztecs have been on an impressive run, showcasing their ability to dominate both ends of the court. Their recent victory over Stanford Cardinal on December 22nd was a testament to their prowess, as they outscored their opponents 74-60 in a game that saw them lead in assists and capitalize on turnovers.

The Aztecs' performance has been nothing short of stellar. In their clash with the Cardinal, they managed an assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.33 and converted 15 points off turnovers into crucial points that widened the gap between them and Stanford. This kind of efficiency will be critical when facing the Wolf Pack.

Against Saint Katherine Firebirds just two days prior to their win against Stanford, SDSU demonstrated offensive firepower by racking up 91 points and dominating in rebounding with a total of 50 boards – including an impressive haul of offensive rebounds leading to second-chance opportunities which resulted in 19 additional points for the team.

However, it wasn't all smooth sailing for SDSU; they faced a tough challenge from UC Irvine Anteaters earlier in December where they narrowly edged out a victory with a scoreline of 63-62. Despite being ranked at number 25 at that time, SDSU showed vulnerabilities especially from within the paint where they scored less than UC Irvine.

The upcoming game against Nevada is expected to test SDSU's resilience once more. The key for SDSU will be maintaining their defensive tenacity while continuing to exploit turnovers effectively against NEV's offense.

Nevada comes into this matchup looking to disrupt SDSU's rhythm but will face an uphill battle given how well-rounded and disciplined San Diego State has proven themselves recently. For NEV, finding ways to break through SDSU’s defense without giving up easy transition baskets will be crucial if they hope to come away with a win.

Looking ahead at this matchup set for January 18th at Viejas Arena – home court advantage could play another significant role as it did during previous games where attendance reached full capacity providing an electrifying atmosphere conducive for home wins.

Aztec fans should mark their calendars and get ready for what could potentially be another showcase event featuring your very own San Diego State Aztecs taking on Nevada Wolf Pack under the bright lights at Viejas Arena starting at 8:00 PM PST. This game can also be caught live nationally on CBS Sports Network channel number 221; don't miss out on what is sure to be another exciting chapter in this season’s campaign!
