Can San Diego State Aztecs Outmaneuver New Mexico Lobos at Thomas & Mack Center?

As the Mountain West Conference heats up, the San Diego State Aztecs are gearing up for a pivotal showdown against the New Mexico Lobos. The stakes are high, and fans of the Aztecs have every reason to anticipate a game that could very well be a testament to their team's resilience and strategic prowess.

The recent performance of the San Diego State Aztecs has been nothing short of impressive. In their last game against Utah State Aggies on March 16, they dominated with an 86-70 victory. Their offensive strategy was on point, with an outstanding field goal percentage of 47 percent and a commendable three-point percentage at 35 percent. The team also showcased their defensive skills by securing six blocks and as many steals, which played a crucial role in disrupting the Aggies' rhythm.

Moreover, their ability to capitalize on turnovers is notable; they scored 13 points off turnovers while maintaining an assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.8. This indicates that SDSU has been efficient in ball handling and creating scoring opportunities – factors that will be critical when facing UNM.

The New Mexico Lobos should not be underestimated though; they bring their own set of strengths to this contest. However, given SDSU's recent form – including another hard-fought win over UNLV Runnin' Rebels after overtime on March 14 – it seems likely that SDSU will carry this momentum forward.

One area where SDSU might want to focus is free throw accuracy; shooting at only 67 percent from the line against Utah State Aggies could leave points on the table against UNM if not improved upon.

Looking back further into SDSU's season provides even more reasons for optimism among fans: A thrilling overtime victory over Boise State Broncos on March 9 showcased both tenacity and depth in play from SDSU players.

With all eyes set on Las Vegas' Thomas & Mack Center, it’s clear that if San Diego State can maintain its robust defense while continuing to exploit offensive rebounds as effectively as they have (14 offensive rebounds against Utah State), then victory is within reach.

The upcoming battle between these two teams promises excitement and intensity in equal measure. Fans can catch all the action live from Thomas & Mack Center or tune into CBS for coverage starting at 3:00 PM PT on March 16th.
