San Jose State Spartans Set to Challenge Colorado State Rams in Vegas Showdown

As the San Jose State Spartans prepare to face off against the Colorado State Rams, fans are bracing for what promises to be a riveting encounter at the Thomas & Mack Center. The Spartans, coming off a mixed bag of performances, have shown both resilience and areas for improvement that could play pivotal roles in their upcoming game.

In their last outing on March 7th against Utah State Aggies, the Spartans fell short despite a valiant effort. Scoring 70 points and shooting an impressive 49 percent from the field shows that they have offensive potency. Their two-point completion rate stood at a commendable 57 percent, but it was their three-point performance, at just 35 percent, which could use some sharpening as they head into this crucial match-up.

The defensive side of things also presents an opportunity for growth. With only two steals compared to Utah State's four and nine turnovers of their own making, SJSU will need to tighten up if they hope to contain CSU's offense.

Looking back further provides additional insights into SJSU's potential strategies. On March 3rd against UNLV Runnin' Rebels in Las Vegas—the same city where they'll be returning for this game—the Spartans struggled with accuracy from beyond the arc (19 percent) and overall field goal percentage (32 percent). However, their free-throw accuracy was through the roof at an astounding 92 percent.

Their most recent victory came on February 28th when they faced San Diego State Aztecs. The second half saw them outscored by SDSU but not without demonstrating tenacity by racking up five blocks and maintaining decent shooting percentages across the board—44 percent from field goals and a solid performance in points off turnovers with 18.

The Colorado State Rams will not make things easy for SJSU; however, there is room for optimism based on past performances. If SJSU can capitalize on its strengths—like inside scoring where they've excelled—and shore up weaknesses such as three-point shooting accuracy and ball handling under pressure—they stand more than just a fighting chance.

Fans eager to see whether San Jose can rise above recent challenges should mark their calendars: The showdown is scheduled for March 13th at precisely 1:30 PM local time in Las Vegas' Thomas & Mack Center. For those unable to attend in person, you can catch all the action live via internet broadcast on MW Network.
