From the opening tip-off, the home team set a relentless pace. The Mustangs ended the first half with a commanding lead of 49 points and continued their dominance into the second half by adding another 40 points to their tally. The Huskies managed to put up 24 points in the first half and improved slightly with 29 in the second, but it was not enough to challenge their opponents.

The Mustangs showcased a balanced attack on both ends of the floor. Offensively, they shot an efficient fifty-one percent from field goal range and were particularly effective from beyond the arc, hitting ten three-pointers at a thirty-nine percent clip. Their free throw accuracy was also noteworthy as they converted nine out of ten attempts.

Defensively, SMU was just as dominant. They racked up twelve blocks and thirteen steals over Houston Christian's four blocks and seven steals. This defensive pressure contributed to nineteen turnovers for Houston Christian which SMU capitalized on by scoring twenty-one points off those turnovers.

Rebounding was another area where SMU excelled; they outrebounded their opponents forty-three to thirty-six overall with twenty-eight defensive boards contributing significantly to limiting second-chance opportunities for Houston Christian.

The standout statistic for SMU was their assist-to-turnover ratio which stood at an impressive two point two-two compared to Houston Christian's zero point four-two – highlighting SMU's superior ball movement and decision-making throughout the game.

As fans look forward to future games, they can mark their calendars for December twenty-second when SMU will face off against Murray State Racers at CFSB Center in Murray. This game is scheduled for six PM Central Time and will be broadcasted nationally on CBS Sports Network channel two hundred twenty-one.
