SMU Mustangs Set to Gallop Over North Texas Mean Green at Moody Coliseum

As the Southern Methodist University Mustangs prepare to host the North Texas Mean Green at Moody Coliseum, fans are brimming with anticipation for what promises to be a riveting encounter. The Mustangs, coming off a series of impressive performances, look poised to continue their winning streak.

North Texas Mean Green VS SMU Mustangs

The recent statistics speak volumes about SMU's dominance on the court. In their last game on December 22 against Murray State Racers, the Mustangs showcased an offensive masterclass by putting up 92 points with an astounding 60 percent field goal shooting and a remarkable 65 percent from beyond the arc. Their defense was equally impressive, with 9 steals and 5 blocks that contributed to a comfortable victory.

Moreover, when they faced Houston Christian Huskies on December 20, SMU's defensive prowess was on full display as they amassed an incredible 12 blocks and 13 steals. This defensive solidity combined with efficient scoring—51 percent from the field and an exceptional 90 percent from the free-throw line—led them to another convincing win.

However, it wasn't all smooth sailing for SMU in recent outings. On December 17 against Florida State Seminoles, despite pulling through with a win, their performance saw dips in three-point shooting (32 percent) and free throws (43 percent). Yet they managed to maintain control of the game through strategic plays leading to high percentage two-point shots (56 percent) which kept them ahead.

The North Texas Mean Green should not be underestimated though; they bring their own set of challenges that could test SMU's resolve. With both teams preparing strategies and honing skills for this matchup, it will undoubtedly be a battle worth watching.

Fans can expect SMU's offense led by sharpshooting guards and agile forwards to take advantage of home court familiarity at Moody Coliseum. The team’s ability to convert turnovers into fast break points will likely play a significant role in building momentum against UNT.

As we look towards February 11th at Moody Coliseum scheduled for tip-off at 7:00 PM Dallas time under ESPN Networks' spotlight—the stage is set for what could be another showcase event for SMU basketball. Fans eager not just for victory but also thrilling basketball should mark their calendars; this is one game you won't want to miss!
