From the opening tip-off, it was clear that the South Carolina Gamecocks were in control of their home court. The team's offensive efforts were led by their accuracy from two-point range, where they shot an impressive 55 percent. Their defensive prowess was equally notable as they amassed seven steals and three blocks throughout the game.

The first half set the tone for what was to come as South Carolina put up 30 points against Elon's 20. In the second half, they extended their lead by adding another 40 points to their tally while holding Elon to just 23 additional points.
