The South Carolina Gamecocks started off slowly, scoring only 18 points in the first half compared to the Pirates' 37. However, they found their rhythm in the second half by nearly doubling their point tally to 38. Despite this surge, it was not enough to overcome the deficit incurred from their initial lag. The Gamecocks showcased resilience and determination as they fought back valiantly but ultimately fell short.

The offensive efforts of the South Carolina team were led by aggressive play inside, resulting in 26 points from within the paint and contributing significantly to their total score of 56. They also capitalized on second-chance opportunities by adding another 16 points on that front. Their defensive rebounds stood at a notable count of 19, which helped limit East Carolina's scoring chances.

On offense, however, struggles were evident for South Carolina as they shot just 38 percent from field goal range and an even lower three-point percentage of only 25 percent. Free throws also proved challenging with just over half made at a rate of approximately 62 percent.

East Carolina's performance was marked by more efficient shooting; they achieved a field goal percentage of exactly half and were particularly effective from beyond the arc where they shot roughly around 41 percent. Their two-point attempts were successful almost six out ten times which contributed greatly to maintaining their lead throughout most parts of this encounter.

Defensively speaking for East Carolina Pirates managed nine steals and capitalized on turnovers by scoring an impressive total of sixteen points off them – showcasing quick transitions into offense after gaining possession.

As fans look forward to future games for both teams involved today’s match-up provided insights into areas where improvements can be made while also highlighting strengths that could be further leveraged moving ahead into upcoming contests against other opponents across college basketball landscape this season.
