First Half

The first half saw the Gamecocks struggling to find their rhythm against a formidable Vols defense. Despite efforts from players like Meechie Johnson, who contributed significantly with his scoring prowess, South Carolina found themselves trailing. The Cocks managed to put up 28 points but were outpaced by Tennessee's aggressive play and efficient shooting, which netted them 40 points by halftime.

Second Half

In the second half, South Carolina attempted to close the gap with increased intensity on both ends of the court. Nordin Kapic showed promise with his shooting accuracy and free throw efficiency, but it was not enough to counteract Tennessee's dominance in the paint. The Vols capitalized on their size advantage and continued their offensive assault, adding another 38 points to secure their victory.

Throughout this encounter, one of the pivotal factors was Tennessee's ability to control rebounds and capitalize on second-chance opportunities. Their bench also provided substantial support with contributions that kept pressure on South Carolina throughout both halves.

Despite some bright spots for individual performances from players like Jordan Butler and EJ Walker in previous games, this particular matchup highlighted areas for improvement for South Carolina as they look forward.
