At Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles, the Stanford Cardinal showcased a determined effort against the fourth-ranked UCLA Bruins. The game was marked by intense competition and several lead changes throughout. Despite falling short in points, the Cardinal demonstrated solid shooting accuracy with an overall field goal percentage of 50 percent and converting 55 percent of their two-point attempts.

The team's performance inside was particularly notable as they scored 38 points in the paint. From beyond the arc, they managed to sink six out of sixteen three-point attempts, rounding off at a respectable 38 percent shooting from deep. Free throws were not as fruitful for Stanford; they made only two out of six attempts.

On defense, Stanford secured three blocks and matched that number in steals. They also showed tenacity on the boards by grabbing a total of thirty-four rebounds—twenty-two defensive and nine offensive—contributing to ten second-chance points.

Assists were distributed effectively among players with fourteen assists recorded for Stanford but were counterbalanced by fourteen turnovers throughout the game. This resulted in an assists-turnover ratio standing at an even one.

In contrast, despite being outshot percentage-wise from both field goals and three-point range, UCLA capitalized on their opportunities at the free-throw line making sixteen out of twenty-five shots which contributed significantly to their victory margin. They also excelled in fast-break situations scoring ten fast-break points compared to Stanford's six.

UCLA's defense forced seven turnovers from which they scored nine points off turnovers while also collecting five steals and four blocks during playtime. Their rebounding efforts slightly trailed behind those of Stanford with thirty-two rebounds but included twelve offensive boards leading to sixteen second-chance points which proved crucial down the stretch.

As fans look ahead after this hard-fought battle between conference rivals, attention turns towards future matchups for both teams involved.

The next challenge for The Stanford Cardinal will be an away game against USC Trojans at Galen Center located in Los Angeles on February 19th at 7:00 PM Pacific Time. Fans can catch all live action broadcasted nationally on ESPN2 channel two hundred nine.
