Orange Squeeze Victory from Cardinals in a Nail-Biter at JMA Wireless Dome

In front of an electrified crowd of 19,426 at the JMA Wireless Dome, the Syracuse Orange showcased their offensive capabilities against the Louisville Cardinals. The game was marked by numerous lead changes and both teams were tied 13 times throughout the contest, indicating how closely matched they were. The Orange's offense was particularly efficient; they shot an impressive 61 percent from the field and an outstanding 72 percent on two-point attempts.

The home team's performance was bolstered by their ability to convert fast breaks into points, tallying up a significant total of 33 fast break points. This high-octane approach kept pressure on the Cardinals' defense throughout the game. Additionally, Syracuse demonstrated superior ball handling and passing skills with a total of 20 assists to only 10 turnovers – doubling their assist-to-turnover ratio compared to that of Louisville.

Defensively, Syracuse also made its presence felt by accumulating more steals (11) than Louisville (6), which contributed to more points off turnovers (23). Their defensive prowess was further highlighted by seven blocks over the course of play compared to just two from Louisville.

Despite being outrebounded by a considerable margin – with only 21 rebounds for Syracuse against Louisville's substantial haul of 40 – it did not deter them from securing victory. In particular, defensive efforts were key as they grabbed 18 defensive rebounds which helped limit second-chance opportunities for Louisville who managed only three second-chance points.

Louisville’s performance should not be overlooked though; they shot well from beyond the arc at a rate of approximately 44 percent and maintained strong scoring inside with a total of forty points in paint. Their free throw shooting hovered around seventy-three percent but ultimately wasn't enough to overcome Syracuse’s relentless attack.

Looking ahead after this intense matchup, fans can anticipate another exciting game as Syracuse Orange will host Clemson Tigers at JMA Wireless Dome on February tenth at noon Eastern Time. This upcoming encounter will be broadcast nationally on ESPN2 channel two hundred nine for those eager fans unable to attend in person.
