In a compelling matchup at Haas Pavilion, the Syracuse Orange emerged victorious over the California Golden Bears with a final score of 75-66. This win adjusts the Syracuse season record to an impressive stance, showcasing their dominance on the court. The Golden Bears, despite a valiant effort in the second half to close the gap, couldn't overcome Syracuse's early lead and strategic gameplay.

Key Highlights from Syracuse

The game was marked by standout performances from several Syracuse players. Lucas Taylor led with an impressive 19 points, demonstrating his shooting prowess by hitting 62 percent of his field goals and maintaining a perfect free throw percentage. J.J. Starling wasn't far behind, contributing 18 points and leading with four assists, showcasing his dual-threat capability on offense.

Eddie Lampkin made significant contributions on both ends of the floor with six points and a game-high ten rebounds, bolstering Syracuse's defense while ensuring second-chance opportunities for his team. Jaquan Carlos also added eight points to the scoreboard but was particularly notable for his defensive play which included one steal.

Syracuse's offensive strategy paid off well as they capitalized on turnovers scoring ten points off them and dominated inside with 30 points in paint thanks to their aggressive approach towards basket penetration.

California Golden Bears' Effort

Despite trailing behind for most of the game, California showed resilience especially in the second half where they outscored Syracuse by eight points. Their comeback attempt was fueled by aggressive defense leading to ten steals and capitalizing on offensive rebounds which resulted in twenty second-chance points.

However, their shooting struggles were evident as they only managed to convert 29 percent of their field goals attempts into scores. Even though they had a higher free throw percentage at 80 percent compared to Syracuse’s 85 percent, it wasn’t enough to bridge the gap created during the first half.
