Key Moments and Player Performances

The Orange struggled to find their rhythm throughout the game, managing only 28 points in the first half and slightly less in the second with 25 points. Despite their efforts, they couldn't overcome the Mustangs' defense or match their scoring pace. The team's shooting percentages were telling of their struggles; they shot 34 percent from the field and an even lower 27 percent from beyond the arc.

J.J. Starling emerged as one of Syracuse's top contributors with 16 points, but his effort alone wasn't enough to secure a win for his team. Jyare Davis also made notable contributions by adding 14 points on an impressive 54 percent shooting from the field and leading with three-point accuracy at 67 percent. Eddie Lampkin stood out for his work off-the-glass, grabbing an impressive total of ten rebounds alongside contributing five points.

On defense, Naheem McLeod was a bright spot for Syracuse with two blocks while Chris Bell added another block to his stat line along with two steals, showing some resistance against SMU's offense.

SMU Mustangs' Dominant Performance

The Mustangs showcased why they were formidable opponents by maintaining consistent offensive pressure that translated into high shooting percentages across all categories – including an outstanding fifty percent from three-point range. Their balanced attack was supported by effective ball distribution that led to fifteen assists and capitalized on turnovers to score eighteen points off them.

Defensively, SMU managed six blocks and seven steals while limiting personal fouls which contributed significantly to keeping key players out of foul trouble and maintaining defensive intensity throughout both halves.

As both teams move forward from this game, it will be interesting to see how they adjust strategies for future matchups based on these performances.
