Schollmaier Arena Showdown: TCU Horned Frogs Edge Out Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions in Men's Basketball

In a closely contested game at Schollmaier Arena, the Texas Christian University Horned Frogs narrowly defeated the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions with a final score of 73-72. The Horned Frogs now stand at rank 14 with an improved record, while the Golden Lions remain unranked after this encounter.

The home team, TCU Horned Frogs, showcased their resilience throughout the game. Despite being outscored in the first half 35-46 by the Golden Lions, they managed to turn things around in the second half by adding 38 points to their tally against their opponents' 26. This comeback was fueled by a significant advantage in two-point field goal percentage where they shot an impressive 52 percent compared to the Golden Lions' more modest rate of 38 percent.


The Horned Frogs also excelled at drawing fouls and capitalizing on free throws; they attempted a substantial number of free throws (38) and made 27 of them which accounted for approximately 37 percent of their total points. Their defensive efforts were notable as well, with eight steals and three blocks contributing to their victory. Moreover, TCU capitalized on turnovers better than Arkansas-Pine Bluff did; scoring 21 points off turnovers while allowing only eleven.


On offense, TCU's fast break execution was superior with them scoring an impressive total of 25 fast break points. They also outrebounded Arkansas-Pine Bluff with a total rebound count of 39 against their opponent's tally of 35 rebounds which included ten offensive rebounds leading to ten second-chance points.


Despite these advantages for TCU, it was not an easy win as Arkansas-Pine Bluff put up a strong fight. The visiting team had six blocks and seven steals showing strong defensive capabilities too. Their three-point shooting was particularly effective as they hit nearly half (45 percent) from beyond the arc making thirteen three-pointers throughout the game.


The match saw eight lead changes and was tied three times indicating how competitive it was until its very last moments when TCU secured its one-point lead over Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
