Can the Horned Frogs' Late Surge Topple the Jayhawks at Allen Fieldhouse?

The TCU Horned Frogs and Kansas Jayhawks delivered a nail-biting contest that ended with a narrow 83-81 victory for the home team. The Horned Frogs, unranked this season, faced off against the number 2 ranked Jayhawks in a game that saw numerous lead changes and ties. Despite an impressive performance by TCU, they fell just short of clinching the win.

At Allen Fieldhouse, a venue known for its raucous atmosphere and passionate fans, both teams fought valiantly in front of a capacity crowd of 16,300 spectators. The game was marked by its competitiveness with 11 times tied and an astounding 26 lead changes throughout.


The Horned Frogs showcased their defensive tenacity with an impressive total of 16 steals and three blocks. Their offense was equally notable; they managed to score 81 points against one of the top-ranked teams in college basketball. TCU's scoring was consistent across both halves with 40 points before halftime and an additional 41 points in the second half.


TCU's shooting from beyond the arc was respectable as they hit eight out of their twenty-one three-point attempts, translating to a solid three-point percentage of thirty-eight percent. Inside the paint, they were able to add thirty points to their tally while also capitalizing on fast-break opportunities to add fourteen more.


On free throws, TCU excelled with thirteen successful shots from sixteen attempts resulting in an eighty-one percent success rate at the charity stripe. They also demonstrated efficient ball movement by dishing out seventeen assists over nine turnovers which gave them an assists turnover ratio of one point eighty-nine.


Despite these efforts by TCU, Kansas managed to edge ahead slightly in several statistical categories which contributed to their victory. The Jayhawks had forty total rebounds compared to twenty-eight by TCU but committed more turnovers (eighteen) than their opponents (nine). Kansas converted fifty-nine percent from two-point range while maintaining a fifty-three field goal percentage overall.


Kansas' ability inside resulted in forty-two points scored within paint compared to thirty by TCU. However, it is worth noting that both teams scored fifteen second-chance points each – evidence that every possession counted in this closely contested match-up.
