Fort Worth Showdown: TCU to Battle West Virginia at Schollmaier Arena

As the TCU Horned Frogs gear up for their next challenge against the West Virginia Mountaineers, fans are buzzing with anticipation for what promises to be a riveting encounter at Schollmaier Arena. The Horned Frogs have been on a rollercoaster this season, showcasing moments of brilliance and periods of concern. Their recent performance in Honolulu is a testament to their resilience and potential.

In the third-place game on December 24, 2023, TCU's offense struggled in the first half against Hawai'i's Rainbow Warriors, managing only 20 points with a mere 25 percent success rate from two-point range. However, they compensated with an impressive three-point shooting percentage of 80 percent. Despite these challenges, they maintained a lead over the Rainbow Warriors by two points at halftime.

The semifinals on December 22 saw TCU put up a stronger fight against Nevada's Wolf Pack but ultimately fall short with a final score of 68-83. The Horned Frogs excelled at free throws with an astonishing accuracy rate of 91 percent and dominated inside the paint scoring 30 points. Yet turnovers were their Achilles' heel; they gave up possession eleven times which translated into nineteen points for Nevada.

TCU's most notable performance came during their quarterfinals matchup against Old Dominion University on December 21 when they erupted for an astounding total of 111 points. They were relentless in attack as evidenced by their fast break points tallying up to twenty-three and second-chance efforts contributing another twenty-three points to their scoreline.

Looking ahead to face WVU, it is clear that if TCU can harness that same offensive firepower while tightening up defensively and controlling turnovers better than in past games, they could very well dominate proceedings once more. The Mountaineers will not make it easy though; known for their gritty playstyle and tenacity on both ends of the court.

TCU fans should expect an intense battle where every rebound counts and each possession could swing momentum significantly. It will be crucial for TCU players like Mike Miles Jr., who has been instrumental this season in facilitating plays and scoring crucial baskets when needed most.

The upcoming game is scheduled for February 13th at Schollmaier Arena starting at 8:00 PM ET (7:00 PM local time). Fans eager not to miss any action from this thrilling matchup can tune into ESPN+ online broadcast network where live coverage will be provided directly from Fort Worth.
