Bears Claw Past Horned Frogs in Schollmaier Showdown

The TCU Horned Frogs faced a challenging contest against the 15-ranked Baylor Bears, culminating in a 62-54 defeat. The Horned Frogs now stand with an unranked status, while the Bears improved their record. Despite a hard-fought battle at Schollmaier Arena, the home advantage wasn't enough to secure victory for TCU.

TCU Horned Frogs VS Baylor Bears

From the onset, it was clear that both teams were evenly matched with four times tied and nine lead changes throughout the game. The Horned Frogs displayed tenacity on defense with six blocks and seven steals but ultimately fell short as they struggled to find their rhythm offensively. Shooting at 33 percent from the field compared to Baylor's 38 percent, TCU couldn't capitalize on their attempts as effectively as their opponents.

The Bears' offense was bolstered by converting nine out of twenty-two three-point attempts, achieving a notable 41 percent success rate from beyond the arc. This sharpshooting proved pivotal in stretching their lead over TCU who managed only five successful three-pointers from nineteen attempts (26 percent). Additionally, Baylor capitalized on turnovers scoring nine points off them and secured eleven second-chance points which contributed significantly to their eight-point margin of victory.

TCU did excel at free throws making fifteen out of eighteen for an impressive 83 percent completion rate; however, this proficiency from the line wasn't enough to overcome Baylor's overall performance. The Horned Frogs also showed effort on fast breaks matching Baylor's eight fast break points but were outrebounded forty-one to twenty-nine which limited their opportunities for second-chance points.

Despite these challenges, TCU demonstrated resilience by forcing fifteen turnovers and maintaining close proximity in personal fouls with fifteen compared to seventeen by Baylor. Their assists-turnover ratio stood at 0.92 reflecting a need for improvement in ball handling and passing accuracy moving forward.

As fans look ahead, they can mark their calendars for when the TCU Horned Frogs will take on BYU Cougars away at Marriott Center in Provo on March 2nd at 7:00 PM Mountain Time (MT). This upcoming game will be broadcast live on ESPN+, allowing fans not able to attend another opportunity to support their team remotely.
