Temple Owls Face Setback Against North Texas Mean Green in Intense Matchup

In a closely contested game that saw both teams fighting for every point, the Temple University Owls fell to the North Texas Mean Green with a final score of 67-76. This outcome moves the Owls' season record to an adjustment, while the Mean Green's victory adds another win to their tally. Despite a strong second half where the Owls outscored their opponents 41-49, it wasn't enough to overcome the deficit from the first half.

Owls' Efforts and Highlights


The Temple Owls showcased resilience and determination throughout the match. Their performance was highlighted by significant contributions from key players. Quante Berry led with an impressive 24 points, demonstrating his scoring ability both inside and beyond the arc, shooting at an efficient rate of 53 percent from the field and making two-thirds of his three-point attempts. Zion Stanford also made notable contributions with 17 points and six rebounds, including a steal that underscored his defensive capabilities.


The team's efforts were further supported by Babatunde Durodola and Shane Dezonie who combined for six rebounds each, showcasing their prowess on both ends of the court. Durodola added two points and three assists to his stat line while Dezonie contributed four points in addition to his rebounding efforts.


Despite these individual performances, as a team, Temple struggled with shooting efficiency overall at 35 percent from field goals but managed better accuracy from beyond the arc at 41 percent. Their defense secured four blocks and two steals but faced challenges containing North Texas' offensive plays.


Mean Green's Winning Strategy


On the other side of the court, North Texas displayed effective teamwork and strategic play which contributed significantly to their victory. The Mean Green excelled in shooting efficiency with a field goal percentage of 49 percent and dominated inside scoring with 42 points in paint compared to Temple's 28.


Their bench played a crucial role by adding an impressive total of 38 bench points against Temple’s contribution of just over half that amount at only twenty-one bench points.


North Texas also capitalized on turnovers more effectively than The Owls did; they scored ten points off turnovers versus seven by The Owls.
