From the opening tip-off at Thompson-Boling Arena, the Volunteers set a relentless pace that would define the game. With an explosive first half scoring 37 points and following it up with an even more potent performance after halftime by adding 49 points to their tally, Tennessee's offense was unstoppable. Their shooting was particularly effective; they hit 52 percent from the field and were successful on 35 percent of their attempts from beyond the arc.

Tennessee's defense was equally formidable. They amassed six blocks and matched Texas A&M with eight steals each. This defensive pressure contributed to ten turnovers for Texas A&M which turned into nine crucial points for Tennessee off those turnovers.

Assists were another area where Tennessee excelled; they distributed the ball efficiently for a total of 23 assists which speaks volumes about their teamwork and unselfish playstyle. Their assist-to-turnover ratio stood at an impressive figure of almost two assists for every turnover committed.
