The Volunteers started strong with an initial half score of 34 points but were slightly outpaced by the Boilermakers who secured 36 points. In the second half, both teams displayed intense competition; however, Tennessee could only add another 32 points to their total while Purdue maintained consistency with another set of 36 points.

As for personal fouls and ball handling discipline: Tennessee committed twenty-five personal fouls leading to two foulouts but kept team turnovers low at just one instance throughout the game which reflects positively on their ball control despite six player turnovers occurring.
