The game was held at the Moody Center in Austin, where 11,313 fans witnessed a nail-biting contest that saw eight ties and eleven lead changes throughout regulation and overtime. The Longhorns fought valiantly but fell short as they were unable to capitalize on their home court advantage.

The Texas squad showcased resilience after trailing at halftime with only 25 points compared to Houston's 33. They rallied back in the second half by adding an impressive 40 points to their tally but could only muster seven points during overtime. Despite this setback, Texas demonstrated efficiency from two-point range with a solid shooting percentage of fifty percent and overall field goal percentage standing at forty-three percent.

Key players for the Longhorns stepped up when it mattered most; they outperformed Houston's assist count by notching nineteen assists and surpassed them in steals with six takeaways. However, personal fouls proved costly for both sides as Texas accumulated sixteen fouls over the course of play.

On defense, Texas managed four blocks and contained Houston's fast break opportunities to just nine points. Yet it was on rebounds where they struggled against a dominant Houston side that secured forty-seven rebounds – ten more than what Texas could gather.

Houston's performance was marked by determination as well; they converted seventy-five percent from the free-throw line and maintained an assist-to-turnover ratio of 1.3 despite committing ten turnovers themselves – equaling that of Texas'. Their three-point shooting hovered around thirty-three percent which contributed significantly to maintaining their lead throughout various stages of the game.

As fans look ahead, they can mark their calendars for another exciting matchup featuring the Texas Longhorns who will be visiting TCU Horned Frogs at Schollmaier Arena on February 3rd at 1:00 PM CST. This game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN2 channel 209 for all supporters eager to follow along from afar.
