Can Texas Tech's Sharp Shooting Overcome TCU's Home Advantage?

In a closely contested matchup, the Texas Tech Red Raiders, ranked 15th with a record of 78-85 against the 25th-ranked Horned Frogs, fell short despite an impressive offensive display. The game ended with the Horned Frogs outscoring the Red Raiders by seven points.

The Red Raiders showcased their scoring capabilities by maintaining a high shooting percentage throughout the game. They finished with an overall field goal percentage of 52 and were particularly effective from beyond the arc, hitting half of their three-point attempts. The team also excelled at sharing the ball, racking up 23 assists which reflects their cohesive playmaking ability.


Texas Tech's offense was spearheaded by their accuracy in two-point shots, making 54 percent of those attempts. They were also successful at drawing fouls and getting to the free-throw line where they made ten out of fourteen shots for a free throw percentage of 71. Despite these efforts, they struggled on rebounds with only four offensive boards contributing to their total rebound count of twenty-seven.


Defensively, Texas Tech managed to block two shots and steal possession three times from TCU. However, they committed twenty-one personal fouls over the course of play which may have given TCU opportunities to maintain their lead.


On TCU's side, they capitalized on fast break situations scoring seventeen fast break points and dominated second-chance points with fourteen compared to Texas Tech’s none. Their defensive efforts resulted in five steals and one block while committing fewer personal fouls than Texas Tech at sixteen.


The Horned Frogs also had a strong showing from behind the three-point line making eleven out of twenty attempts for an impressive fifty-five percent success rate. Their overall field goal percentage stood at forty-three percent but it was their performance from the free-throw line that made a significant difference as they converted seventy-five percent of thirty-two free throws attempted.
