The home team's performance at United Supermarkets Arena was marked by tenacity and precision from behind the line. The Red Raiders' free throw accuracy was exceptional at 86 percent, contributing significantly to their one-point victory over their opponents. Their defense also played a crucial role; they managed to steal possession from the Horned Frogs ten times over the course of play.

Offensively, Texas Tech showed balance but struggled slightly with field goal attempts, making only 39 percent compared to TCU's more efficient 42 percent shooting. However, they made up for it with critical second-chance points totaling 18 and capitalizing on turnovers by scoring 13 points off them.

A key factor in this tight contest was rebounding. The Horned Frogs outrebounded Texas Tech with a total of 49 rebounds against Texas Tech's 36. Despite this disadvantage on the boards, Texas Tech maintained composure and kept turnovers low at nine versus twelve by TCU.

The three-point game was not particularly strong for either side; both teams shot under thirty percent from beyond the arc—27 percent for Texas Tech and just slightly lower for TCU at 26 percent. Nevertheless, these shots came through when needed most during crunch time.
