Can the Green Wave Surge Past Mean Green's Defense at Devlin Fieldhouse?

The Tulane Green Wave faced a challenging opponent in the North Texas Mean Green, culminating in a nail-biting 80-76 outcome. The home team's record now stands at an even balance, while the visitors from North Texas have edged ahead with their latest victory.

Tulane Green Wave VS North Texas Mean Green

In a game that saw only one lead change and no instances where the score was tied, the Tulane Green Wave showcased resilience and determination on their home court at Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse. Despite trailing by nine points after the first half, they mounted an impressive comeback attempt in front of 1,409 spectators.

The second half was particularly electrifying for Tulane fans as their team outscored North Texas by five points. This surge was fueled by an aggressive offense that produced 20 fast break points and dominated inside with 32 points in paint. The Green Wave converted on 53 percent of their two-point attempts and maintained a slightly better field goal percentage than North Texas at 47 percent.

Tulane's free throw performance was notable as well; they made it to the line for a total of 34 attempts but managed to convert only 68 percent of those into points. On defense, they managed seven steals and two blocks but also gave up eight steals to North Texas which contributed to their total of thirteen turnovers.

One area where Tulane excelled over its adversary was rebounding; they grabbed a total of thirty-four rebounds compared to North Texas' thirty-one. However, this advantage did not translate into control over second chance opportunities as both teams scored six second chance points each.

Despite these efforts, it wasn't enough to overcome North Texas' consistent scoring across both halves and particularly potent three-point shooting which saw them make eight out of twenty-three attempts (35 percent). The Mean Green also capitalized on free throws with an impressive accuracy rate of eighty percent from twenty-five attempts.

As fans look forward to future matchups, attention turns toward Tulane's next challenge against Florida Atlantic Owls scheduled for March 2nd at noon Eastern Time at Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena located in Boca Raton, FL. Supporters can tune into ESPNU television network for live coverage as the Green Wave seek redemption on foreign hardwoods following this closely contested battle.
