Did Tulane Green Wave's Defense Hold the Key Against UAB Blazers?

First Half

The Tulane Green Wave faced off against the UAB Blazers in a competitive match at Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse. The game ended with a score of 82-69, favoring the Blazers, bringing Tulane's record to 0-1 and UAB's to 1-0 for this season.

In the first half, both teams displayed strong defensive tactics. The Green Wave managed to keep pace with their opponents early on, thanks largely to their effective blocking strategy that resulted in 8 blocks throughout the game. However, despite their efforts, they trailed by halftime with a score of 38-29.

Second Half

As play resumed after halftime, Tulane sought to close the gap. Rowan Brumbaugh emerged as a key player for Tulane during this period, contributing significantly with his scoring and assists tallying up to 16 points and 6 assists respectively. His performance was complemented by Asher Woods who also scored an impressive 16 points.

Despite these efforts from Brumbaugh and Woods, UAB maintained their lead through efficient shooting and strategic plays that capitalized on turnovers by Tulane. The Blazers' ability to convert turnovers into points proved crucial as they extended their lead further.

Final Outcome

Ultimately, it was UAB’s consistent offensive pressure combined with high free throw accuracy—94 percent—that secured them victory over Tulane’s spirited challenge. While Josiah Moore added depth for the Green Wave off-the-bench scoring four points along with three rebounds; it wasn't enough against an opponent who excelled at exploiting second-chance opportunities totaling up to eighteen points.
