The University of Central Florida Knights displayed a valiant effort on the court at WVU Coliseum. Despite trailing at halftime with 30 points to West Virginia's 37, they managed to ramp up their performance in the second half by adding another 37 points. However, it wasn't enough to overcome West Virginia's consistent scoring which added 40 points after halftime.

The Knights' defense was particularly notable for its tenacity; they racked up an impressive total of ten blocks and nine steals over the course of play. Their offensive efforts were led by fast break points totaling 13 and second-chance points also amounting to 13. The team showed considerable effort inside as well, scoring 20 points in paint.

From beyond the arc, UCF managed to convert only nine out of thirty-eight attempts resulting in a three-point shooting percentage rounding out to about twenty-four percent.

On an individual level, players stepped up as well: one Knight player fouled out but not before contributing significantly across various statistics including personal rebounds where UCF collected thirty-five compared to West Virginia’s thirty-seven. The team also demonstrated discipline with turnovers; committing only seven compared to thirteen by West Virginia.
