First Half

The first half saw both teams battling neck and neck. The UCF Knights managed to secure a narrow lead early on, thanks in part to their effective fast break plays which contributed significantly to their score. Themus Fulks was instrumental during this period, scoring 19 points and providing crucial assists that kept the team competitive. However, despite leading by as much as 14 points at one stage, they ended up trailing slightly with a score of 29-28 by halftime.

Second Half

In the second half, the momentum shifted towards West Virginia as they capitalized on turnovers from UCF. The Mountaineers' defense tightened up significantly and forced numerous errors from their opponents. Despite strong performances from players like Riley Kugel who added another layer of defense with his steals and blocks alongside John Bol's defensive prowess in blocking shots, it wasn't enough to hold back WVU's offensive surge.

The Mountaineers outscored UCF by an impressive margin in this half due largely to their superior shooting accuracy and ability to convert free throws at an impressive rate of 84 percent compared to UCF’s 81 percent.

Post-game Analysis

Reflecting on what went wrong for UCF Knights during this matchup reveals several areas needing improvement before future games. Their total turnovers reached double digits which proved costly against such an efficient opponent like WVU who made full use of these opportunities scoring crucial points off them.
