In front of a crowd of 7,065 spectators, the home team UCLA Bruins put up a valiant effort but ultimately fell short against the Maryland Terrapins. The game was tightly contested with two lead changes and once tied throughout the match. Despite outrebounding their opponents by eight, totaling 40 rebounds to Maryland's 32, the Bruins could not capitalize on their defensive efforts.

The offensive side saw UCLA struggling from beyond the arc, converting only one out of fourteen three-point attempts which amounted to seven percent shooting from distance. However, they fared better inside the paint scoring thirty points. Free throws were also a significant part of their game as they made twenty-five out of thirty-four attempts translating to seventy-four percent from the line.

Key players for UCLA included those who contributed to their sixteen offensive rebounds and sixteen defensive rebounds which helped maintain possession and create second-chance opportunities leading to thirteen second-chance points. Despite this advantage and an equal number of turnovers as Maryland at ten each, it was not enough to secure victory.

On defense, UCLA managed only one block compared to two by Maryland but did manage three steals over the course of play. Both teams showed discipline in ball-handling with an assists turnover ratio standing at point sixty-seven for each team.

The visiting Terrapins shot forty-two percent overall including forty-six percent on two-point field goals and thirty-six percent from three-point range making eight out twenty-two attempts. They also made twenty-one free throws on seventy percent shooting contributing significantly to their final tally.
