Their offense was on fire, shooting nearly 48 percent from the field and an impressive 36 percent from beyond the arc. The team also demonstrated efficiency in ball handling with an assist-to-turnover ratio of 1.9.

The previous game against Creighton Bluejays further solidified UNLV's offensive prowess as they secured a win with a score of 79-64. However, it wasn't just offense where UNLV excelled; their defense has been formidable too. Against Creighton, they managed to record eleven steals and limited turnovers to six – highlighting their defensive pressure and control over the ball.

Despite these strong performances, there was a setback in Phoenix against Saint Mary's Gaels where UNLV narrowly lost in double overtime by two points (67-69). This loss showcased some areas for improvement such as three-point shooting accuracy which stood at only about 21 percent.
