Can the UNLV Runnin' Rebels' Overtime Surge Be the Spark for Their Season?

In a closely contested battle at Arena-Auditorium, the UNLV Runnin' Rebels emerged victorious over the Wyoming Cowboys with a final score of 75-69. The UNLV Runnin' Rebels now stand with an improved record, while the Cowboys face another mark in their loss column.

The game was a showcase of resilience and determination from both sides, but it was the Runnin' Rebels who managed to seize control when it mattered most. After ending regulation time neck and neck, it was in overtime that UNLV pulled away, outscoring Wyoming by six points to secure their win.

The offensive efforts of the Runnin' Rebels were led by an impressive free throw accuracy rate of 86 percent, significantly contributing to their total score. They also demonstrated a strong presence inside with 26 points in paint and capitalized on second-chance opportunities by adding 16 points following offensive rebounds.

Defensively, UNLV made sure to keep pressure on Wyoming throughout the game. With six steals and two blocks to their name, they disrupted Wyoming's flow and forced them into committing more turnovers than themselves – fifteen for UNLV compared to ten for Wyoming.

One area where both teams showed parity was in three-point shooting percentages; however, it was ultimately more fruitful for UNLV who made eight shots from beyond the arc at a rate of 38 percent compared to Wyoming's six at 29 percent.

While field goal attempts were nearly equal between both teams – fifty-nine for UNLV and fifty-seven for Wyoming – it was again efficiency that set them apart: forty-one percent field goal accuracy helped propel UNLV ahead despite being matched shot-for-shot.

The rebounding battle also tipped in favor of the visitors as they collected forty-four total rebounds against thirty-two by Wyoming. This included ten offensive boards which played a crucial role in extending possessions and creating additional scoring chances for UNLV.

Looking ahead after this hard-fought victory on foreign hardwoods, fans can anticipate another exciting matchup as The University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNVL) Runnin’ Rebels are scheduled to host San Jose State Spartans at Thomas & Mack Center located in Las Vegas on March 2nd at 7:00 PM local time. This upcoming contest will be broadcasted live on CBS Sports Network where supporters can tune in to follow all action-packed moments as they unfold.
