Can the Runnin' Rebels Maintain Their Dominance After Decisive Victory?

The UNLV Runnin' Rebels extended their season record after a commanding performance against the San Jose State Spartans, finishing with a score of 68-50. The game, which took place at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, showcased the Rebels' ability to control both ends of the court. The Spartans struggled to keep pace, reflected in their season tally now standing at a less favorable position.

From tip-off, the UNLV Runnin' Rebels established dominance on their home court. With an impressive defensive display that included 10 blocks and 8 steals, they stifled many of the Spartans’ scoring attempts. Offensively, they were just as effective; shooting 41 percent from the field across 54 attempts and converting 75 percent of their free throws from 24 attempts.

The team's efforts inside were particularly noteworthy as they outscored their opponents by six points in paint plays. This was complemented by a strong rebounding performance where they gathered a total of 44 rebounds – nearly double that of San Jose State's total rebounds count.

The Spartans did show resilience despite being outplayed for most parts of the game. They managed to sink an impressive 92 percent from free throw line but only made four three-pointers out of twenty-one attempts – a mere 19 percent success rate which paled in comparison to other aspects of their play.

A key aspect for UNLV was capitalizing on turnovers; scoring 16 points off turnovers while maintaining an assists turnover ratio below one might be areas for improvement but it didn't stop them from keeping control throughout both halves with scores of thirty-three and thirty-five respectively.

As fans look ahead, anticipation builds for what could be another showcase event when UNLV hosts San Diego State Aztecs at Thomas & Mack Center on March fifth at eight PM Pacific Time. The game will be broadcasted live on CBS Sports Network for fans unable to attend what promises to be another exciting matchup in college basketball's calendar.
