Utah State Aggies Dominate Lobos at Thomas & Mack Center in Mountain West Quarterfinal

The Utah State Aggies emerged victorious with a commanding 91-76 win over the New Mexico Lobos at the Thomas & Mack Center. The Aggies now stand with an impressive record, while the Lobos trail behind.

New Mexico Lobos VS Utah State Aggies

From tip-off, the Utah State Aggies set a relentless pace against their opponents. The first half saw them accumulate 44 points to the Lobos' 33, setting a tone of dominance that would continue throughout the game. The second half was no different as they added another 47 points to their tally, showcasing their offensive capabilities.

The Aggies' shooting accuracy was a key factor in their victory. They shot an impressive 48 percent from the field and were particularly lethal from beyond the arc, hitting 50 percent of their three-point attempts. Their free throw performance was also solid at 73 percent.

On defense, Utah State showed tenacity with eight steals and one block. They outrebounded New Mexico by four rebounds overall, securing seven offensive rebounds which contributed to nine second-chance points – critical in maintaining momentum and deflating New Mexico's hopes for a comeback.

Assists were another area where Utah State excelled; they distributed well among teammates for a total of 21 assists which speaks volumes about their teamwork and fluid ball movement on offense. This helped them achieve an assist-to-turnover ratio of approximately two-to-one.

In contrast, while New Mexico put up a valiant effort scoring forty points in paint and achieving seven steals themselves, they struggled from three-point range making only two out of ten attempts – translating to just twenty percent success rate from distance.

The Lobos did manage to score fourteen points off turnovers but matched this with fourteen turnovers themselves which ultimately hindered any chance of gaining ground on Utah State's lead.

Looking ahead for fans of Utah State Aggies: The team is scheduled to face Boise State Broncos next at Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas on March 11th at midnight Eastern Time (9 PM Pacific). This game will be broadcast nationally on CBS Sports Network channel two hundred twenty-one for those wishing to follow along live as it unfolds.
