UTEP Miners Set to Clash with Sul Ross State Lobos at Don Haskins Center

As the University of Texas at El Paso Miners prepare to host the Sul Ross State Lobos at the Don Haskins Center, fans are eager for what promises to be an engaging matchup. The UTEP Miners have shown a resilience that could be pivotal in their upcoming game against SRSU.

Norfolk State Spartans VS UTEP Miners

In their last encounter on November 13 against the New Mexico State Aggies, UTEP emerged victorious with a narrow three-point lead, finishing 67-64. This win was characterized by a balanced offensive and defensive effort that saw them match up evenly on rebounds with 35 each and maintain a field goal percentage of 45 percent. Their two-point shooting was particularly effective, hitting just over half of their attempts.

However, it wasn't all smooth sailing for UTEP; they struggled from beyond the arc and from the free-throw line, converting only 23 percent of three-pointers and making just under 60 percent of free throws. These areas present opportunities for improvement that could make them more formidable against SRSU.

The Miners also demonstrated an ability to capitalize on turnovers but will need to tighten up their own ball-handling after turning it over 16 times in their previous game. Their assist-to-turnover ratio stood at roughly 0.8 – not stellar but indicative of potential if they can reduce mistakes.

On defense, UTEP showed tenacity with five steals and three blocks in their last outing but will need to maintain this intensity against an SRSU team looking for any edge they can find.

The Sul Ross State Lobos come into this game as underdogs but cannot be underestimated. They'll look to exploit any lapse in concentration from UTEP's side and will aim to challenge them on every possession.

For fans anticipating this contest, it's clear that if UTEP can enhance its free-throw accuracy and three-point efficiency while maintaining its solid two-point performance, they stand a good chance of controlling the game's tempo against SRSU.

Looking ahead confidently yet cautiously seems like the appropriate stance for Miner supporters as past performances have shown both promise and areas needing attention before facing off with Sul Ross State Lobos.

The excitement builds towards November 16th when these teams meet at Don Haskins Center in El Paso at 9:00 PM ET. Fans won't want to miss this event which will be broadcasted on CUSA TV via internet streaming – an opportunity for supporters far and wide to witness what could be another step forward for this resilient UTEP squad.
