Florida International Panthers VS UTEP Miners

The University of Texas at El Paso Miners showcased a robust offensive performance against the Florida International University Panthers at Ocean Bank Convocation Center. The Miners' scoring was consistent throughout both halves, posting 40 points initially and ramping up to 47 in the latter half. Their offensive efforts were bolstered by an impressive three-point shooting accuracy of 67 percent, significantly higher than their opponents' 17 percent.

The Miners also excelled in fast break scenarios, matching the Panthers with 24 fast break points each. Dominating inside play was evident as well, with UTEP securing 38 points in paint compared to FIU's substantial but lower tally of 54 points. On defense, UTEP managed to block five shots and made ten steals over the course of play.

Rebounding played a critical role for UTEP as they gathered a total of 34 rebounds; defensive boards accounted for most with a count of 21 while they grabbed another eleven on offense. This rebounding effort contributed to their twelve second-chance points.

Free throws were another area where UTEP capitalized; they hit an admirable rate of approximately 71 percent from the line on thirty-five attempts which added substantially to their point total. In terms of ball distribution and teamwork, UTEP recorded twenty assists but had some challenges maintaining possession which resulted in twenty-four turnovers.

Despite these turnovers and personal fouls totaling seventeen for UTEP versus twenty-three for FIU – which saw two Panther players fouling out – it was ultimately not enough to derail them from victory.

Looking ahead, fans can anticipate seeing more action from The University of Texas at El Paso Miners as they are scheduled to face off against Florida Atlantic Owls on February 25th at FAU Arena located in Boca Raton FL. This upcoming game is set for broadcast on ESPN+ starting at seven o'clock Eastern Time.
