The University of Texas at San Antonio Roadrunners fell short against the Charlotte 49ers with a final score of 66-58. The Roadrunners now stand with a record of 0-1, while the 49ers have kicked off their season with a victory, moving to 1-0.

Charlotte 49ers VS UTSA Roadrunners

In front of a modest crowd at the UTSA Convocation Center, the Roadrunners faced an uphill battle throughout the game. Despite their efforts, they were unable to secure a lead at any point during the match. The first half concluded with them trailing by five points, and although they managed to put up an additional four points in the second half compared to their opponents', it was not enough to close the gap.

The University of Texas at San Antonio's performance was marked by aggressive defense which resulted in eighteen personal fouls and one player being fouled out. This aggressive play did not translate into dominance on offense as they struggled from beyond the arc, converting only five out of twenty-five three-point attempts for an underwhelming twenty percent success rate.

On offense, UTSA showed strength inside by scoring thirty points in paint but were hindered by turnovers; seventeen in total which led to only eight points off turnovers for them. Their free throw accuracy was slightly better than field goal shooting as they made eleven out of sixteen attempts from the line – translating into sixty-nine percent free throw accuracy.

Rebounding was one area where UTSA excelled; pulling down forty-six rebounds compared to Charlotte's twenty-six. They particularly shone on offensive rebounds grabbing fourteen which helped them score sixteen second-chance points. However, this advantage on boards did not translate into control over game flow or outcome.

The Charlotte 49ers displayed efficient shooting throughout and capitalized on opportunities presented by UTSA turnovers scoring nineteen points off turnovers. Their two-point field goal percentage stood high at fifty-nine percent as they made twenty out of thirty-four shots within that range. From beyond three-point line though, their accuracy dipped significantly as they hit just four out of seventeen attempts resulting in twenty-four percent success rate from downtown.

Charlotte also demonstrated quick transition play scoring sixteen fast break points while maintaining solid ball distribution with twelve assists leading to an assist-turnover ratio of 1.71 – notably higher than that recorded by UTSA who had seven assists against seventeen turnovers resulting in an assist-turnover ratio standing lowly at 0.41.

As both teams look ahead after this conference game showdown, fans are already marking calendars for upcoming matchups.

Looking forward to their next challenge away from home base is set for January 17th when University of Texas at San Antonio Roadrunners will face Tulsa Golden Hurricane at Donald W Reynolds Center located in Tulsa Oklahoma; fans can catch all action live via ESPN+ starting from seven o'clock Central Time evening hours.
