Roadrunners' Effort Falls Short Against 49ers at Halton Arena

The University of Texas at San Antonio Roadrunners now stand with a record of 0-1 after a hard-fought battle against the Charlotte 49ers, which ended in a score of 79-70. The Roadrunners put up an impressive first half, leading with 44 points compared to the 49ers' 46, but couldn't maintain their momentum into the second half where they scored only 26 points against the home team's additional 33.


Charlotte 49ers VS UTSA Roadrunners

The UTSA Roadrunners showcased resilience on the court at Dale F. Halton Arena. Despite being outscored by nine points, they managed to accumulate a total of 43 rebounds, surpassing Charlotte's count by seven. The offensive efforts were led by their ability to secure second-chance opportunities, amassing an impressive total of 18 second-chance points throughout the game.


UTSA also demonstrated defensive capabilities with six steals and three blocks. However, personal fouls seemed to plague them as they racked up a total of twenty-one compared to Charlotte's sixteen. On offense, UTSA had an assist-turnover ratio of 1.38 with eleven assists and eight player turnovers.


Shooting from beyond the arc was frequent for UTSA as they attempted thirty-three three-point shots and successfully made ten; this accounted for thirty percent shooting from distance. Inside the paint was another story where they fought hard for twenty-eight points but struggled overall in field goal percentage making only thirty-six percent out of sixty-seven attempts.


Free throws were another critical aspect where UTSA could have capitalized more effectively; twelve free throws were made out of twenty attempts resulting in sixty percent completion rate which left valuable points off their tally.


The Charlotte team proved efficient especially inside scoring range with a two-point shooting percentage standing at sixty-one percent and forty-eight percent overall field goal efficiency that contributed significantly to their victory over UTSA.
