In an intense first half at Suncoast Credit Union Arena, the Virginia Cavaliers demonstrated solid defensive skills with six steals and three blocks. Their offense was led by their field goal shooting, making 10 out of 27 attempts for a field goal percentage of 37. The team also showed proficiency from beyond the arc, sinking three out of eleven three-point attempts for a three-point percentage of around 27. From the free-throw line, they were successful in making three out of four shots which translates to an impressive free throw percentage of approximately 75.

On the rebounding front, both teams were neck and neck with personal rebounds; however, the Cavaliers managed to secure only two offensive rebounds compared to seven by their opponents. Despite this disparity on offensive boards, total rebounds for both teams stood at thirteen apiece.

The Cavaliers' ball handling resulted in five turnovers but they capitalized on turnovers from West Virginia with twelve points off those opportunities. This aggressive defense was complemented by an assist-to-turnover ratio standing at one.

West Virginia Mountaineers struggled with ball control as evidenced by their ten turnovers during this period. Their shooting accuracy fell short compared to that of their opponents', hitting nine out of twenty-eight field goals which gave them a lower field goal percentage near 32. They did manage to make four out five free throws resulting in an eighty percent success rate from the line.

As both teams prepare for the second half, fans are eager to see if The Cavaliers can maintain their lead and finish strong against The Mountaineers who will undoubtedly look to turn things around after trailing closely behind.

Looking ahead for The Virginia Cavaliers fans is another exciting matchup scheduled on November 29th at John Paul Jones Arena where they will face Texas A&M Aggies. Fans can catch all live action starting at six fifteen PM Eastern Time broadcasted nationally on ESPN2 channel two hundred nine.
